  14. CHIWRITER is a scientific/multifont word processor supporting up to 10 fonts
  15. and 250 super/subscript levels per line. It is truly "what you see is what
  16. you get" and extremely easy to use. It works with a variety of printers and
  17. can produce both fast draft and high resolution printing.
  18.  
  19. The CHIWRITER program on this disk is identical with a 1985 commercial 
  20. release version, except for the "commercial message" which is shown at the 
  21. beginning and periodically during operation. It is NOT the newest version 
  22. of CHIWRITER.
  23.  
  24. Version 2.00 was released in August 1986. It has numerous enhancements, 
  25. including proportional spacing, much more efficient memory usage and 
  26. faster operations. The word processing performance has been much improved
  27. as well, with new powerful commands and features, including footnoting. 
  28. Printing has been speeded up by using the fonts built into each printer as
  29. much as possible.

  113. This system comes set up for the IBM Graphics board and the EPSON MX 80 or 
  114. compatible printer. CHIWRITER does not work with an IBM monochrome board. 
  115. To change the printer, run CONFIG and select your printer. This disk only
  116. contains drivers for a few popular printers, whereas the regular version
  117. includes support for many more low-cost printers (contact us for most recent
  118. list).

  124. The default filename extension is .CHI. The default drive is A:. If you need 
  125. to override these defaults, specify explicit extensions, drive and path names. 
  126. You should go through the lesson on TUTORIAL.CHI to become acquainted with the 
  127. editing commands. Only the commands essential to get you started are 
  128. introduced there. Most commands work under more general circumstances than 
  129. described in the tutorial. Experiment for best results, or buy the real thing
  130. and read the manual.

  140. CHIWRITER works with Prokey and similar keyboard enhancers as well as with
  141. Turbo Lightning. CHIWRITER can read plain ASCII files, and spelling checkers
  142. can read .CHI files.
